Song of names


‘Song of names’ is a performance poem . It was presented at a the launch of Brother Sammy’s CD launch,’ Sold out to Jesus’. The poem is a parody of Mbizo Chirasha’s ‘African Names’ in style and presentation.

Born and bred in Zimbabwe. Currently living and working in South Africa. Primary school teacher by profession and performance poet by design. I have several poems published in anthologies online and in print. I have presented poems on ZBC radio and TV, SABC2, BBC radio and TV. I have performed poems at social, academic, local and international gatherigs , including:
1.ZIBF , HIFA and Chimanimani Arts Festival(Zimbabwe)
2.Antusa Teachers Games(Botswana)
3. Arts Alive Jo\’burg, Speak the Mind Capetown and Amani Arts Festival Capetown, Capetown Fringe Arts Festival, Artmode(South Africa)\’

I have held arts administration positions , as a volunteer, in the following organisations:
Budding Writers Association, Young Writers Caravan(both now defunct),Zimbabwe Readers Association, Arterial Network South Africa NEC, PANSA-WC Poetry Liason(current).

I have worked with CHIPAWO in training disadvantaged rural children in the performing arts.
