Winners of the Vaal Sunday Market Best Group/ Band 2016 awards, is BlaQ2sday . Listed one of the top 10
artists in Africa by Crowdfunder (UK), Bozza (SA) and The Drum (UK) to perform in London in 2016.
BlaQ2sday are the crowned winners of the MTv #KickStartMyBandIntoGear Competition 2015 ( R100 000
worth of Band Gear courtesy of Music Connection , Electric Vines and MTv ), and also winners of the Paco
Rabanne #BlackXS Competition 2015 (R20 000 cash prize). BlaQ2sday is a South African eclectic band, able
to confidently switch between different genres from Jazz, Trap, Electro, Hip-Hop, House, Funk, Rock to
Dubstep Music. They represent a class akin to the standards of purist jazz enthusiasts along with a feel that
appeals to everyone young and old. BlaQ2sday exudes confidence in their presentation on stage that cannot
be forged. The energy and collaboration is undeniably real.
BlaQ2sday was formed in honour of musicianship and out of respect for the art of playing live music.
Founded in 2011. The fellas had known each other before, only then did they feel it was right for them to get
together and do nothing but amazing things. BlaQ2sday formed an impeccable, motivated team with a clear
sound. The variety in the band is astoundingly versatile, and can cater for any kind of sound, event, at any
given time or day.
\\\”Excited as they were with the love they got from the stages they\\\’ve graced such as House of Hunger,
Alliance Francaise de Johannesburg, Alliance Francaise de Durban, Word N Sound Poetry and Live Music
Series Johannesburg, Vaal Unified in Music and Arts alongside MXO at Mafatsane, Rosebank (Katzy\\\’s),
Constitution Hill of South Africa, Tanz Live and as an opening act for Zahara’s Phendula National Tour,
BalconyTv Johannesburg, Emfuleni Local Municipality Arts & Culture Summit 2014, Lighthouse On 7th
(Melville), Puisano Jazz Festival 2014 and Kool Out’s #KoolinInTheCity just to name a few, they were just
oozing inspiration to keep on creating what makes the world go \\\’round, music!\\\”.
Amongst all other objectives, the one that stands out most is to perform non-stop all across South Africa,
and abroad. Recently been in studio, recording a project due late this year (2017), or early 2018. We’ve
previosuly had an interview with Word N Sound. Link . Had a live performance on some national Tv channels
like on Weekend Live – SABC 2 and Channel 404 DStv on the 18th May 2014, YoTv (SABC 1) on the 23rd July
2014. Expresso (SABC 3) has requested a live performance from us as soon as we can get to Cape Town.
Got an interview on a couple of radio stations like Times Media ( The Weekend Beat), Voice of Wits ( The
Platform), Sedibeng fm ( Bumper to Bumper), and also got airplay in United Kingdom (London) radio station (
Resonance FM). The team was booked to perform at the National Arts Festival from the 3rd – 6th July 2014 at
The Vic Venue in Grahamstown.
